Philosophy 350: Ancient Chinese Philosophy

Come and join me in studying the major philosophical schools of Chinese thought that were developed centuries before the founding of the Qin Dynasty which was the first centralized bureaucratic empire. Philosophical schools developed in this period are the foundations of Chinese civilization. We will study these texts not only in terms of what they say but also to understand the ways they are used by people in the Chinese-speaking world and the kinds of lives they engender. Philosophy 350: Ancient Chinese Philosophy will be offered for Fall 2024 and will be taught on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 to 1:45. The instructor will be Xiufen Lu. She can be contacted at xiufen.lu@wichita.edu.
