Sign number 2: Philosophy 350: Ancient Chinese Philosophy Come and join me in studying the major philosophical schools of Chinese thought that were developed centuries before the founding of the Qin Dynasty which was the first centralized bureaucratic empire. Philosophical schools developed in this period are the foundations of Chinese civilization. We will study these texts not only in terms of what they say but also to understand the ways they are used by people in the Chinese-speaking world and the kinds of lives they engender. Philosophy 350: Ancient Chinese Philosophy will be offered for Fall 2024 and will be taught on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 to 1:45. The instructor will be Xiufen Lu. Then on March 26 the Shockers play Oklahoma at home. From March 28 to March 30 the Shockers will travel to Charlotte to play Charlotte University. On April 5 to April 7 the Shockers will play against Tulsa right here in Wichita. Then from April 12 to April 14 the Shockers will play against South Florida in Florida. On April 17 the Shockers will travel back to Wichita to host Oklahoma State. The following weekend, April 19 through April 21, the Shockers will host UAB for an exciting AAC match up. The final away series for the Shockers will be April 26 to April 28 against North Texas. The Shockers will close out the season at home on May 3 through May 5 against Memphis. A reception will take place at 5:30 p.m., with the program following at 6 p.m. Sacks holds an MFA from the Programs in Writing at the University of California, Irvine. Their debut novel, "City of a Thousand Gates" was awarded the Janet Heidinger Kafka Prize for fiction. Their second novel, "The Lover," was published in 2023. A former journalist, Bee worked at Vanity Fair for several years before moving to Israel-Palestine to study sacred Jewish texts.
