Welcomefest 2024

Welcomefest runs August 15 to September 14 and is the official welcome campaign for new and returning Shockers and features events, activities, and services designed to help everyone have a successful transition to life at Wichita State. Popular programs awaiting new and returning Shockers include the NXT LVL Garage Party, Clash of the Colleges, Involvement Fair, and much more. Hosted by various student groups and campus departments, most events are free and give all students a chance to get acquainted with each other, learn their way around campus, and find ways to connect with the community. Popular Music of the Americas course

Fall 2024 Course: [[ char LTRL ]]musc[[ char NORM ]] 164, Popular Music of the Americas. The course meets on Tuesdays and Thursday, 2:00 to 3:15 pm. Learn about popular music styles and genres from the 1860s to the present day. No musical knowledge required. Counts as a General Education Arts/Humanities course and carries a Diversity designation. Get ready for the ultimate showdown. Clash is back, and this year we're celebrating the 10th Anniversary with an epic competition like never before. Join us for a field day filled with exciting team events, thrilling relay races, virtual challenges, and so much more to see which college will reign supreme. Fall 2024 Involvement and Community Fair

The Fall 2024 Involvement and Community Fair will be held on Thursday, August 29th from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M in the RSC and on the North and Northeast lawn. The event is geared toward showcasing the diverse community of student organizations and resources available to serve the interests of students, faculty and staff at Wichita State University! You're invited to connect with new and returning students and learn more about how you can curate your sense of community on campus.

Career Connection Root Beer Kegger

Join the Shocker Career Accelerator on Wednesday, August 28th from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on the East Hubbard Hall Lawn for the Career Connection Root Beer Kegger. Enjoy a hot dog and a cold root beer (while supplies last) and learn about the Shocker Career Accelerator. You can also meet over 50 employers and learn about their organizations. Bring your WSU ID. Dress casually.

SAC to host an Open House

The Student Activities Council Open House takes place Wednesday, August 28th from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. in the Rhatigan Student Center, Room 266. Shocker Rowing S’mores and Oars

Join Shocker Rowing for an evening full of fun on the downtown Arkansas River with S’mores and Oars from Wednesday, August 28th, 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. free with WSU ID. The location is 150 N McLean, Wichita, Kansas. Boats and Bikes will provide yard games, s’mores, kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, and pedal boats. Shocker Rowing will offer a “Learn 2 Row with Shocker Rowing” demonstration teaching anyone how to row on the Arkansas River, and fishing will be available through Wildlife and Fisheries. Alpha Phi Alpha Informational

The Brothers of the Delta Mu Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. invite you to an upcoming informational session where you can meet current members, learn more about our organization, and find out how to get involved. Attending an informational session is required to be considered for membership.

Daily Study Room Available in the RSC

Did you know the Rhatigan Student Center offers a daily study room for students? Each day, the RSC designates an open meeting room as the official “study room” of the day. The room will be unlocked and open to students to come and go as they please to study all day. This is to be a quiet, shared space. Check our Instagram stories @wsursc daily to find out which room is the study room.

Study Abroad Programs for Winter 2025

Shocker Store Brand Ambassador Application Open

Students, do you love Wichita State? Do you love new Shocker gear? Do you enjoy creating engaging Instagram content? If so, apply to become a Shocker Store Brand Ambassador. Members gain leadership skills through planning, organizing and executing major events at WSU. Second, attend any SAC event to get connected. Stop by our info table or chat with one of our team members to start your SAC journey. Third, Visit a member meeting. All member meetings are held on the first Tuesday in September, October, and November at 4:30 P.M. in RSC room 142. Lastly, SAC uses committees to plan, market and execute their events. Committees meet weekly in the Rhatigan Student Center. Traditions on Mondays at 3 P.M., Special Events on Monday at 4:30 P.M., Shocker Night Life on Tuesday at 3:30 P.M., Digital Content Team on Wednesday at 3:30 P.M., and Shocker Ventures on Wednesday at 4:00 P.M.
