Come down to the Arkansas River and watch the Shocker Rowing team battle it out in the Class Races. Saturday, September 28th at 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at River Vista Boathouse on 150 N McLean Boulevard, Wichita, Kansas. The Class Races will start off this event with a competition between the Freshmen and Seniors battling it out for victory. Learn to Row with a current rower and have a chance to experience what rowing on the water is like. Learn to Row will start at approximately 3:30 P.M. Rowing lesson tickets, $30 a person, are available for purchase through wichita.edu/shockerrowing.

Informational meetings about the Alternative Spring Break trip will be Wednesday, Sept. 18; Friday, Sept. 27; Thursday, Oct. 10; Monday, Oct. 23; and Wednesday, Nov. 6. Watermelon Bust is a competition between all the sororities and fraternities on campus at WSU. Saturday, September 28th at noon to 4:00 P.M. at the WSU throwing fields next to the Charles Koch Arena. $10 per person, $50 per team. All proceeds go Feeding America and the Kansas Food Bank. They battle it out against each other to win our Watermelon Bust trophy and have bragging rights for the year. It's the largest philanthropy event of the year for Lambda Chi Alpha and a perfect representation of how impactful one idea and multiple college students can be for the community surrounding them. WSU School of Performing Art's Jo Zakas Musical Theatre Incubator Program is thrilled to present a workshop production of Express, an original new musical by Wichita native Arri Lawton Simon and his writing partner Janine McGuire. Come and join the Community Service Board volunteering at the United Way GIV Warehouse. The United Way Give Items of Value (GIV) Program accepts donated items from companies and offers them at no charge to nonprofits throughout the state. The United Way GIV program distributes $400,000 to $1 million worth of donated items each year to more than 100 area nonprofits (including agencies not funded by United Way). GIV partners with Good 360 to obtain donated products from national retailers. Volunteers will meet at the GIV Warehouse to sort and organize items so that they may be given to local nonprofits.
