Kick-off your Fall Break with a day of volunteering with Habitat for Humanity on their Annual Fall Build on Saturday, October 12th from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Volunteers will participate in a variety of tasks that could include but are not limited to site preparation, framing, flooring, insulation, drywall, roofing, siding, painting, trim work, finish work, site clean-up, landscaping and maintenance as necessary. No qualifications except closed-toed shoes and a good attitude required. Transportation to and from Habitat sites will be provided. Lunch will also be provided. Come and join the Community Service Board volunteering at the United Way GIV Warehouse. The United Way Give Items of Value (GIV) Program accepts donated items from companies and offers them at no charge to nonprofits throughout the state. The United Way GIV program distributes $400,000 to $1 million worth of donated items each year to more than 100 area nonprofits (including agencies not funded by United Way). GIV partners with Good 360 to obtain donated products from national retailers. Volunteers will meet at the GIV Warehouse to sort and organize items so that they may be given to local nonprofits. The Clayton Staples Gallery's second exhibition of the fall semester, "Illustrated Nature," will be on view from Wednesday, October 16th to Friday, November 22nd. Located in McKnight Art Center room 205, "Illustrated Nature" is a collection of artworks by Joanne Price, printmaker and owner of Starpointe Studio.
