Some of the questions that will be explored in the PHIL 335 Theory of Knowledge class include: What is knowledge? When are beliefs well justified? In what ways are knowledge and truth valuable? How does knowledge transfer via testimony work? How should we respond to disagreement? What injustices are there that relate to our capacity to have and transmit knowledge? Lies and BS. What kinds are there? Can these pose a threat to our information economy?

Philosophy 215, Intro to Ethics of Big Data and AI, will be offered this Spring. The class will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 p.m.to 1:45 p.m. This is an entry level course for non-professionals. Some of the topics covered will include: algorithmic bias, automated hiring, deep fakes, medical avatars, and privacy.
