Join the Community Service Board serving dinner at the Lord’s Diner on February 12th, 2025 and March 12th, 2025 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. The Lord’s Diner provides a free meal seven days a week, 365 days a year. Duties may include serving food, busing dishes, refilling drinks, dining hall clean-up, and washing dishes. Sign up for the Wichita State Engineering 5K on Saturday, February 22nd, starting at 9:00 a.m. The 5K will start and conclude at the John Bardo Center at WSU. The course has been certified by USA Track and Field, and the event is open to WSU students, faculty, staff and community members. Registration includes a free 5K-themed shirt, and the proceeds will benefit the College of Engineering Need-Based Scholarship Fund to help students with financial need. The 31st season of the Rie Bloomfield Organ Series presents its own producer and School of Music faculty member, Lynne Davis, in an organ recital on Tuesday, February 18th at 7:30 pm on the Marcussen organ in Wiedemann Hall. Wichita State University offers several professional development programs this spring. The Introductory Additive Manufacturing Certificate Program will be held on Thursday, February 27th and 28th at the National Center for Aviation Training in Wichita, KS. The Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Concepts and Applications course runs Monday, March 3rd through 6th at the Dimensional Metrology Training Center in Park City, KS, costing $1,195 per person. For those interested in online learning, the Composite Structural Engineering Technology (CSET) courses are available in two modules: CSET-A from March 10th through April 2nd, and CSET-B from April 21st through June 1st, each priced at $900. The Clayton Staples Gallery's first exhibition of the spring semester, "This Is Captured Paper," will be on view from Thursday, February 1st, 2024 to Friday, March 15, 2024. This springs Road Trip takes us to Kansas City to explore the rich history and heritage of Black Americans while visiting two iconic sites that preserve and celebrate the impact of Black pioneers in music and sports, the American Jazz Museum and Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. Registration for this trip includes museum tickets, transportation, lunch at Arthur Bryant’s BBQ, and time on your own at the Crowne Plaza in downtown KC. This event is exclusive to WSU Students and a deposit of $10 is required to reserve your spot on the trip. The fee will be refunded to those who attend. The Road Trip is part of our Black History Month series and takes place Saturday, Feb. 15 and will depart from WSU at 7:30 a.m. and return to campus around 10 p.m. This event is coordinated by the Student Activities Council with support from Student Engagement and Belonging and Housing and Residence Life. Graduate students who plan to complete all degree requirements this semester must file an application for degree and pay the $25 filing fee. This needs to be done no later than Monday, Feb. 17. Submit your application for degree even if you have a plan of study pending to be approved or have not submitted a plan of study. To submit your application for degree, log into the myWSU portal and click on the myClasses tab. On the right hand side, you will find a section called “Graduation Links,” with the appropriate links to proceed. The $25 fee must be paid using a credit or debit card.
