Shocker Financial Wellness workshop dates for Spring 2025

Join us for a series of valuable financial workshops this spring semester! All sessions run from 11:30 AM to 1:45 PM and are designed to help you build essential financial skills. Start with "Eating on a Budget" on February 4th in RSC 142, followed by "Love & Money" on February 13th at the RSC Table. Learn about "Credit Cards" on March 4th in RSC 142, and get help with "Filing Taxes" on March 25th at the RSC Table. In April, don't miss "Adulting 101" on April 8th in the Woolsey Hall Fidelity Ballroom, and wrap up with "Game of Life" on April 22nd in RSC 142.

Introduction to Japanese Philosophy

Explores Japan's unique philosophical contributions including: engaged vs. detached knowing; Shinto, Confucian, and Buddhist influences on Japanese thought, concepts of beauty (yugen) and fundamental impermanence (mono no aware), critiques of Western philosophy, and overcoming nihilism through emptiness (ku). 15th Annual Drag Show

Student Activities Council, Spectrum LGBTQ and Allies, and Ambassadors for Diversity and Inclusion are proud to host the 15th Annual Drag Show. This event is on Friday, April 4, at the Eugene M Hughes Metropolitan Complex from 8-10pm. This 1950s themed event will showcase headliner and host from RuPaul’s Drag Race, Loosey LaDuca, and also have local performers and rising student drag talent. Wichita State University Opera Theater presents The Consul.

Wichita State University Opera Theater presents The Consul, an opera by Gian Carlo Menotti under the direction of Professor Alan Held along with the WSU Symphony Orchestra. The performances will occur at the Duerksen Fine Arts Center on Friday, April 4 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, April 6 at 3:00 PM. WSU students can attend for free with a valid student ID.

Legal Careers Panel

Assistant Federal Public Defender Ellen Albritton and Investigator Madison Davis share details about their work in the Federal Public Defenders office in Wichita. Shocker Leadership Experience

Looking for an engagement experience you can’t find on campus? Look no further than the Shocker Leadership Experience. SLE is a FREE 5-day, 4-night overnight experience at Rock Springs 4-H Ranch in Junction City, Kansas from Monday, May 19 through Friday, May 23 (week after semester ends). SLE engages participants in leadership knowledge and skill development facilitated in both large and small groups, and also through numerous interactive activities. This program is great for all students, regardless of their leadership experience. Topics include: Personality and Leadership, Leading through Conflict, Building Community/Belonging, Leadership Power and Influence, and Living and Leading through Purpose. the McNair Scholars Program is now accepting applications for the upcoming 25-26 academic year. As a vital member of our academic community, your support in identifying and encouraging eligible students to apply is greatly appreciated. About the McNair Scholars Program: The McNair Scholars Program is designed to prepare undergraduate students for doctoral studies through involvement in research and other scholarly activities. This program targets first-generation and low-income students and/or members of groups that are underrepresented in graduate education. Key Benefits: Mentorship from faculty members and experienced researchers. Opportunities to conduct research and present findings at national conferences. Workshops and seminars focused on graduate school preparation, including GRE prep and application assistance. Eligibility Requirements: U.S. citizenship or permanent residency. Current enrollment as an undergraduate student. Sophomore, Junior or Senior with a minimum GPA of 2.75 or 3.0 in the last 60 credit hours​.
