Hidden Science in Engineering Materials

Students, staff, faculty and industry partners are invited to attend the seminar, "Hidden Science in Engineering Materials,” hosted by the National Institute of Aviation Research (NIAR) and the College of Engineering. The seminar will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 24 in 110A Woolsey Hall. The speakers include Dr. James C. Ho (researcher and retired professor), Dr. Ramazan Asmatulu (professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering) and Rachael Andrulonis (director of advanced materials research at NIAR). Dr. Ho will present, "What does low-temperature calorimetry tell us about high-strength Al-Li, Ti-(V, Mo)-Al, and magnetic element-containing materials?," while Dr. Asmatulu will present, "Failure Mechanism of Fiber Reinforced Composites for Aviation" and Andrulonis will present, "Qualification of Additively Manufactured Metals."

Environmental Ethics, Philosophy 590AD, will be offered in the Fall 2025 term. It will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2:00 pm. This course is suitable for interested upper-level undergraduates in any field.

Delta Gamma's annual Lectureship series in partnership with College of Health Professions presents Jared Estes. Jared Estes is a motivational speaker who had to overcome a tragic accident in his early adult life. His story inspires hundreds every year. Shocker Financial Wellness workshop dates for Spring 2025

Join us for a series of valuable financial workshops this spring semester! All sessions run from 11:30 AM to 1:45 PM and are designed to help you build essential financial skills. Start with "Eating on a Budget" on February 4th in RSC 142, followed by "Love & Money" on February 13th at the RSC Table. Learn about "Credit Cards" on March 4th in RSC 142, and get help with "Filing Taxes" on March 25th at the RSC Table. In April, don't miss "Adulting 101" on April 8th in the Woolsey Hall Fidelity Ballroom, and wrap up with "Game of Life" on April 22nd in RSC 142.

Shocker Financial Wellness is hosting a workshop on the topic of "The Game of Life." This come-and-go event will run from 11:30AM to 1:45PM on April twenty-second in room 142 of the Rhatigan Student Center. Attend College of Engineering Open House event at Charles Koch Arena

The College of Engineering invites all to attend its annual Engineering Open House from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, May 9 at Charles Koch Arena. Between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., senior engineering and computing students will present prototype solutions throughout the concourse. From the end of student presentations until 7 p.m., there will be hors d’oeuvres and refreshments served, as well as an awards ceremony.

Summer 2026 European Travel Seminar

Tentative dates are Sunday, May 18 to 27, 2026. Visit three countries: France, Italy and Spain. Classes: Comm 398 for 1 or 3 credit hours or Comm 660AB course option for grad students. Led by professor Eric Wilson. Open to all WSU students – undergraduate and graduate. Honors students can earn credit toward honors requirements with the three-credit option. The program fee includes all flights; triple- or quad-occupancy rooms; inter-city travel; full-time tour director and local guides; all activities on the itinerary; and international health insurance. The program fee is approximately $4,910. It excludes personal expenses, baggage fees, and tuition. Scholarships available. The deadline to apply is Monday, Nov. 17, 2025. SLE is a FREE 5-day, 4-night overnight experience at Rock Springs 4-H Ranch in Junction City, Kansas from Monday, May 19 through Friday, May 23 (week after semester ends). SLE engages participants in leadership knowledge and skill development facilitated in both large and small groups, and also through numerous interactive activities. This program is great for all students, regardless of their leadership experience. Topics include: Personality and Leadership, Leading through Conflict, Building Community/Belonging, Leadership Power and Influence, and Living and Leading through Purpose.
