Why should you join? Ethics Bowl is a fun and free way to build your resume. Teams of 3-7 compete against each other in a debate-style format. Teams prepare responses to cases that are based on real events and situations. In their preparation, students develop a greater mastery of ethical ideas as well as critical thinking skills. Volunteer for Shockers Neighborhood Clean Up

Join the Community Service Board for a morning of volunteering with our neighbors in the Shocker Neighborhood. Help our neighbors in the Shocker community to keep their neighborhoods clean and beautiful. Volunteers will help clean up trash and debris within the neighborhoods. Our next clean-up will be on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 8:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Students may volunteer on volunteerICT here: wichita.edu/NeighborhoodCleanUp. You’re Invited to WSU’s Largest One Day Volunteer Event

Join us for WSU's largest one-day volunteer event on Saturday, September 20th, where Shockers will volunteer throughout the community. Free Python Workshops by the School of Computing

WSU students, staff and faculty can attend for free. The workshops are 7 to 8 p.m. in Jabara Hall 128 on the following days: Tuesdays, Sept. 9, 16, 23, 30; Tuesdays, Oct. 7, 21, 28; and Tuesday, Nov. 4. The course will cover different topics each day. The New Career Playbook: Michael Horn to Deliver Keynote at the Barton School

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University is proud to announce Michael Horn as the keynote speaker for its Fall 2025 James Schwartz Distinguished Speaker Series. Horn is the author of several influential works, including the national bestseller Job Moves: 9 Steps for Making Progress in Your Career. Civic Canvases: A Monthly Mural Series

Civic Canvases is a monthly, hands-on mural series where students reflect, create, and contribute to a monthly evolving mural. This activity will be held each month from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the RSC main floor. Dates and themes are as follows: Thursday, August 21st "Canvas of Community"; Thursday, September 11th "This Is What Moves Us"; Thursday, October 9th "Voices in Action"; and Thursday, November 13th "Moments that Matter". Join the Community Service Board Volunteering with Wichita Clean Streams

Join the Community Service Board volunteering with Wichita Clean Streams by volunteering for a morning of clean-up around the areas around the Arkansas and Little Arkansas River. Volunteers days will be held on the second Saturday of each month on Saturday, Sept. 13, Saturday, Oct. 11 and Saturday, Nov. 8 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Volunteers will be sent the location of the volunteer meet-up prior to the event. September is Suicide Prevention Month. Wear your suspender shirts on Fridays to support destigmatizing mental healthcare access and preventing suicide. Savvy Scholar Workshop: How to write a literature review

Got a writing assignment this semester? Maybe a literature review? Join us on Tuesday, September 16th, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm online for a workshop that simplifies the process. There is no cost to attend. We’ll guide you through researching, pulling together different perspectives, and presenting your findings so you can tackle your paper with confidence. The Civil War's final year was more fragile than we've been told, and renowned historian Dr. Scott Ellsworth from the University of Michigan will discuss his gripping new book, "Midnight on the Potomac", uncovering untold stories from the war's most critical moment through the Lincoln assassination. Textron Aviation Executive Maggie Topping Named Executive-in-Residence at the Barton School

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University is thrilled to announce Maggie Topping as its Fall 2025 Executive-in-Residence. Topping, senior vice president, Human Resources and Communications at Textron Aviation, will bring her extensive expertise to enrich the school’s academic and professional environment. As Executive-in-Residence, Topping will participate in mentoring sessions, deliver guest lectures, and collaborate with Barton School leadership on program and curriculum innovations. She will also lead a keynote fireside chat titled “Driving Innovation Forward: Textron Aviation’s Balanced Approach to AI, Talent, and the Transformation of Work” alongside Luke Pankey, Chief Information Officer at Textron Aviation.
