$3 Pool Tournaments Every Friday

Visit the Shocker Sports Grill and Lanes every Friday at 2 p.m. for a Pool Tournament. Tournaments will alternate between 8-ball and 9-ball and have a $3 entry fee per week. The winner each week will win a pre-paid pool card and earn points to qualify for the semester championship. For questions, email SSGL@wichita.edu.

Try the Western Burger in September

Swing by the Shocker Sports Grill and Lanes in September to try their Western Burger. It features a toasted sesame seed bun with BBQ sauce, crispy onion rings, beef burger patty, cheddar cheese and bacon. $9.49 for the burger only, or $11.99 as a combo with a drink and chips or fries.

The Department of History presents Dr. Scott Ellsworth on Midnight on the Potomac

The Civil War's final year was more fragile than we've been told, and renowned historian Dr. Scott Ellsworth from the University of Michigan will discuss his gripping new book, "Midnight on the Potomac", uncovering untold stories from the war's most critical moment through the Lincoln assassination. Join us Thursday, September 25, at 6:00 pm in Hubbard Hall, room 211 (doors open at 5:30 pm) for this free public event. Civic Canvases: A Monthly Mural Series

Civic Canvases is a monthly, hands-on mural series where students reflect, create, and contribute to a monthly evolving mural. This activity will be held each month from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the RSC main floor. Dates and themes are as follows: Thursday, August 21st "Canvas of Community"; Thursday, September 11th "This Is What Moves Us"; Thursday, October 9th "Voices in Action"; and Thursday, November 13th "Moments that Matter". No sign-up necessary just show up and join!

Shocker Store Brand Ambassador Application Open

Sigma Alpha Epsilon Chapter of the Year

Food 4 Fines – Monday, Sept. 8-12

Have a parking citation? You can get up to six citations waived by donating for Food 4 Fines. Donations start Monday, Sept. 8 and end Friday, Sept. 12. Drop your donations off in the Student Engagement and Belonging Office in room 219 of the Rhatigan Student Center or at the Parking Services Building. EXTENDED: Faculty/staff can schedule annual health appointments at Student Health

Student Health Services is still able to offer current WSU faculty and staff the ability to schedule their HealthQuest physical exam and lab work until Monday, Dec. 1. If you do not have a primary care provider and currently have private insurance through your employment with WSU, call to schedule your appointment with Student Health providers at 316-978-4792.

Suspender Fridays

September is Suicide Prevention Month. Wear your suspender shirts on Fridays to support destigmatizing mental healthcare access and preventing suicide. Mini-Wellness and Social Services Fair

Shockers, come to the Mini-Wellness and Social Services Fair to learn about local resources and to enter to win a variety of prizes. 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 17th in the Rhatigan Student Center. This event celebrates and promotes health, wellness and social service resources within the campus and community. Volunteer for Shockers Neighborhood Clean Up

Join the Community Service Board for a morning of volunteering with our neighbors in the Shocker Neighborhood. Help our neighbors in the Shocker community to keep their neighborhoods clean and beautiful. Volunteers will help clean up trash and debris within the neighborhoods. Savvy Scholar Workshop: How to write a literature review

Twilight on the Water

Join Student Activities Council at the River Vista Boathouse for a peaceful autumn evening along the Arkansas River. Enjoy the golden hours before sunset with access to kayaks, pedal boats and bicycles. This event is exclusive to WSU students and transportation will be provided to registered attendees. This event is from 5pm-8:30pm on Wednesday, Sept. 24.

Mark your calendars and get ready for some chili and chills — because the 21st annual HPS Chili Cookoff is coming your way. Location: Heskett Center. Date: Friday, Oct. 31. Alternative Spring Break Informational Meetings

You're encouraged to bring your lunch and stop by to learn about this year's Alternative Spring Break trip to Dallas, Texas. Textron Aviation Executive Maggie Topping Named Executive-in-Residence at the Barton School

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University is thrilled to announce Maggie Topping as its Fall 2025 Executive-in-Residence. Topping, senior vice president, Human Resources and Communications at Textron Aviation, will bring her extensive expertise to enrich the school’s academic and professional environment. As Executive-in-Residence, Topping will participate in mentoring sessions, deliver guest lectures, and collaborate with Barton School leadership on program and curriculum innovations. She will also lead a keynote fireside chat titled “Driving Innovation Forward: Textron Aviation’s Balanced Approach to AI, Talent, and the Transformation of Work” alongside Luke Pankey, Chief Information Officer at Textron Aviation. Rie Bloomfield Organ Series Welcomes Guest Artist Oliver Brett

The Rie Bloomfield Organ Series opens at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23 in Wiedemann Hall. Guest artist Dr. Oliver Brett will perform works by Bach, Howells, Mendelssohn and Widor, followed by a conversation with the artist after intermission. Why should you join? Ethics Bowl is a fun and free way to build your resume. Teams of 3-7 compete against each other in a debate-style format. Shocker Rowing Class Races and Learn-2-Row

Saturday, Sept. 20, 9 a.m.-11 p.m. at River Vista Boathouse, 150 N McLean Boulevard. Come down to the Arkansas River on Saturday, Sept. 20 and watch the Shocker Rowing team battle it out in the Class Races. The Class Races will start off this event with a competition between the Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors battling it out for victory. Take your seat with Shocker Rowers during the Learn 2 Row. Have a chance to experience what rowing on the water is like. Savvy Scholar Workshop – Citation management using Zotero

You’ll learn how to capture and track your writing project resources with Zotero in our upcoming workshop on Tuesday Tuesday, Sept. 30, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm online. There is no cost to attend. You can use Zotero to create citations and reference lists while writing your papers, share resources with your team, and organize your research efficiently. Free Python Workshops by the School of Computing

WSU students, staff and faculty can attend for free.
