Philosophy of Medicine course Spring 2026

Philosophy 410, Philosophy of Medicine will be offered in Spring 2026. Explore the metaphysics, epistemology, and science of medicine. Topics include: What is health? What is medicine?, Causation and kinds, Evidence and inference, Objectivity and effectiveness, Molecular and precision medicine, Controversial cases and emerging technologies. Student Government Association presents Social Safety Week. Monday, Nov. 10 – 13th, 2025

Wichita State’s Student Government Association presents Social Safety Week, happening November 10 through 13 on the first floor of the Rhatigan Student Center. The week features interactive events focused on health, safety, and wellness. On Monday, learn practical strategies for responsible drinking and safe socializing during Sip Safely: Alcohol Awareness with University Police. On Tuesday, stop by Student Health Services for Treat Yourself, Get Vaccinated to receive a flu shot, a wellness kit, and some candy. On Wednesday, join the Sexual Health and Wellness event to talk about consent and respect, get free STI testing, and enjoy an ice cream sundae bar while learning how to live and love well. On Thursday, the Substance Use Awareness session with the CARE Team will cover Narcan education and ways to recognize, respond to, and prevent substance-related emergencies. Social Safety Week is all about staying informed, making responsible decisions, and supporting one another in building a safer, healthier campus community.

Are you 35-65 years old? Come participate in human subject testing in biomechanics to better understand the potential connection to a rolling style with various muscle strengths. The on-campus testing is around 45 minutes a session, is made up of four physical assessments, and there are bottles of water and snacks provided.

Summer 2026 European Travel Seminar

Wichita State University is offering a Summer 2026 European Travel Seminar from May 18 to 27, visiting France, Italy, and Spain. Students can earn 1 to 3 credit hours through COMM 398 or COMM 660AB, taught by Professor Eric Wilson. The trip is open to undergraduate and graduate students, with honors credit available. The program fee is about $4,910 and covers flights, lodging, local travel, guides, activities, and health insurance. Scholarships are available, and the application deadline is November 17, 2025. Indigenous Voices in Health: A Community Conversation

In honor of Native American Heritage Month, The Academic Center for Biomedical and Health Humanities (HealthHum) presents a HealthHum Panel, "Indigenous Voices in Health: A Community Conversation. Thursday, Nov. 13 at 3:30pm in Rhatigan Student Center 262 Herrman Room. Panelists include: Chantal Nez Dominguez, MPH, (Navajo/Dine) Program Manager, Center for Public Health Initiatives at the Community Engagement Institute who will speak about Community Engagement for Better Health Outcomes in Native American Communities. Laura Razo, JD, CHW (Kickapoo/Potawtomi) Attorney and former elected tribal leader will speak about Cultural Healing and Health Relationships for Urban Teens. Lori Santos, PhD (Taino) Art Educator in the WSU School of Art, Design, and Creative Industries will speak about Indigenous Perspectives on Mindfulness and Wellbeing in Artistic Practice. Civic Canvases: A Monthly Mural Series

Civic Canvases is a monthly, hands-on mural series where students reflect, create, and contribute to a monthly evolving mural. This activity will be held each month from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the RSC main floor. Dates and themes are as follows: Thursday, August 21st "Canvas of Community"; Thursday, September 11th "This Is What Moves Us"; Thursday, October 9th "Voices in Action"; and Thursday, November 13th "Moments that Matter". Provide a holiday gift for a local child or adult through The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program, hosted by the Shocker Store. The program will be a hybrid this year, with the angel selection process being online but the gifts being returned in store.
