Wichita State Men's Basketball hosts DePaul in a HUGE non-conference Saturday morning showdown at Charles Koch Arena on Saturday, Dec. 13. Tip off is at 11am. Bring a new stuffed animal to throw onto the court at halftime during our annual Teddy Bear Toss. Donations benefit local youth in the Shocker Neighborhood. Join us for WSU’s largest one day volunteer event. Join your fellow Shockers for a morning of volunteering throughout our community. Individuals, groups, organizations, students, staff and faculty are all invited to attend. Check-in for Wu's Big Event will be from 8:30 to 8:50 a.m. The kick-off will begin in the Beggs Ballroom, located on the third floor of the Rhatigan Student Center at 9 a.m. with a lite breakfast, and kick-off celebration. Participants will then load the buses and be at a service site by 10 a.m. Volunteers will work until 12 p.m. and return to the Beggs Ballroom for lunch and closing festivities. The event will end by 1:30 p.m. Transportation to and from Service Sites is provided. Light Breakfast, lunch, water, and t-shirt also provided. Philosophy 331 is a general education Humanities course. It examines the development of Greek philosophy in its major phases, including an exploration of the Milesian and Eleatic traditions, Pythagoras, the Atomists, the Pluralists, the Sophists, Socrates, Plato and Aristotle. Course topics include knowledge, goodness, love, justice, reality, and virtue This course is interesting in its own right, and it provides crucial background to help you understand much of the Western intellectual tradition. Philosophy 331 meets during the Spring 2026 semester on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30am – 10:45am and is taught by Dr. Pat Bondy. Philosophy 352: Contemporary Chinese Philosophy (CRN 21057) explores the evolution of Chinese thought from the late 19th century to today; examines key philosophical movements during China's cultural transformation, including the Republican Revolution, Maoist ideology, and post-Mao reforms. Discover how modern Chinese thinkers reinterpret ancient traditions while engaging with Western ideas to shape their visions of a harmonious society. Philosophy 225: Ways of Being in the World provides an introduction to worldviews and philosophical thought of Indigenous people of North America (also known as Turtle Island). Emphasis is on understanding "a different way of viewing and being in the world" by reading, listening to, viewing and discussing selected works of Native American/First Nations/ American Indians, Metis, and Inuit authors and speakers. Works are related to areas of philosophy such as the nature of philosophy, philosophy of religion, metaphysics, epistemology and ethics. This course meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:00pm – 3:15pm during the Spring 2026 and is taught by Dr. Susan Sterrett with special guest instructor Kelly Berry. Library Research Award Informational Session for Students 11:30am-12:00pm on Thursday, Feb. 12 The Library Research Award recognizes students who have effectively utilized University Libraries' resources for their research or creative projects during the past academic year (summer through spring semesters). There are two $1,000 prizes, one for undergraduate students and one for graduate students awarded annually at the conclusion of the Spring semester. No need to have a completed project before you apply. Come to this informational session to help you plan how you should proceed with assignments and research projects this semester. This high-energy course, listed as DANC 130V, meets Mondays and Wednesdays from eleven to twelve-thirty. It’s designed for college students who want to stay active, reduce stress, and express themselves through music and movement. No dance experience is needed — just bring your energy and creativity. Each session takes place from 11:30 AM–1:30 PM in RSC 142 and focuses on practical, real‑life financial topics. Learn how to eat well on a budget, understand credit and loans, get started with investing, and navigate major financial decisions through The Game of Life. Current Wichita State students who attend 3 out of 4 Shocker Financial Wellness workshops and complete one Peer Coaching appointment by Friday, May 1 will be entered into a drawing for a Fall 2026 tuition scholarship (non-renewable and in-state value only).

Philosophy 325: Formal Logic (CRN 21051) takes a deep dive into systems of formal logic, including sentential and predicate logics. Special emphasis is put on using these systems in the analysis of arguments. Formal logic shows us how to bring rigor to our reasoning, unveils the formal structure behind algorithms and programming languages in computer science, and reveals universal semantic and syntactical features behind natural languages. This course meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00am – 12:15pm in Fiske Hall 209 and is taught by Dr. Angela Sager. Philosophy 125: Introductory Logic is a prerequisite for this course. Kick off the spring semester at the SGA Welcome Bash on Thursday, Jan. 22 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the RSC First East Atrium. This indoor welcome event is hosted by the Student Government Association and features free pizza, sodas, and a photo booth with SGA members. Students will have the opportunity to meet SGA Executive Officers, Senators, and Justices while learning more about student government initiatives and upcoming events. The SGA Welcome Bash is a fun, welcoming way to start the semester and connect with your student leaders.
