Join the Community Service Board for Senior Saturdays. Senior Saturdays provides an opportunity for Shockers to interact with local seniors and at Larksfield Senior Living Community. Volunteers may assist with various tasks including yard work, playing games, reading together or just spend time chatting with seniors. No experience is necessary.
Library Tour and Orientation 3:30-4:30PM on Tuesday, Feb. 3 Explore the library’s secrets in a tour of Ablah Library. Meet by the Circulation Desk for a tour of: 24-Hour Study Room and other study areas, Tech Hub, Other services, collections, and spaces throughout Ablah Library. After the tour, in room 217, we will: Explore the library website, Locate online articles and books through SmartSearch, A-Z Databases page and interlibrary loan, and Identify your personal librarian. RSVP is available in the library events calendar. While not required, it will provide you with an email reminder the day before the event. This event is part of Welcomefest and Savvy Scholar Workshops.
Shocker Financial Wellness is hosting a series of free, come‑and‑go workshops designed to help you strengthen your money management skills and plan for your future. Each session takes place from 11:30 AM–1:30 PM in RSC 142 and focuses on practical, real‑life financial topics. Learn how to eat well on a budget, understand credit and loans, get started with investing, and navigate major financial decisions through The Game of Life. Current Wichita State students who attend 3 out of 4 Shocker Financial Wellness workshops and complete one Peer Coaching appointment by Friday, May 1 will be entered into a drawing for a Fall 2026 tuition scholarship (non-renewable and in-state value only).

Library Research Award Informational Session for Students 11:30am-12:00pm on Thursday, Feb. 12 The Library Research Award recognizes students who have effectively utilized University Libraries' resources for their research or creative projects during the past academic year (summer through spring semesters). There are two $1,000 prizes, one for undergraduate students and one for graduate students awarded annually at the conclusion of the Spring semester. No need to have a completed project before you apply. Come to this informational session to help you plan how you should proceed with assignments and research projects this semester. The Kiah Duggins Shocker Support Locker is now open with new hours. The locker is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It provides support resources for students, and the sign shows that it is officially open with updated operating times.

Love Data Week is an annual celebration of data, taking place every year during the week of Valentine’s day. Organized by ICPSR, the theme this year is “Where's the Data?” — a way to get people thinking about data’s journey from collection through storage and preservation. Wichita State University Libraries invite students, faculty and staff to attend, online or in-person at Ablah Library. Join us for WSU’s largest one day volunteer event. Join your fellow Shockers for a morning of volunteering throughout our community. Individuals, groups, organizations, students, staff and faculty are all invited to attend. Check-in for Wu's Big Event will be from 8:30 to 8:50 a.m. The kick-off will begin in the Beggs Ballroom, located on the third floor of the Rhatigan Student Center at 9 a.m. with a lite breakfast, and kick-off celebration. Participants will then load the buses and be at a service site by 10 a.m. Volunteers will work until 12 p.m. and return to the Beggs Ballroom for lunch and closing festivities. The event will end by 1:30 p.m. Transportation to and from Service Sites is provided. Light Breakfast, lunch, water, and t-shirt also provided. Join Wichita Clean Stream’s, Wichita RiverWalk Cleanup Crew and the Community Service Board for a morning of cleaning up the area around the Arkansas and Little Arkansas River. Gloves, trash bags and materials will be provided. Volunteers will meet at a location determined before the event. Volunteers will be given exact location of event via email before the event.
Everything old is new again. The Shocker Sports Grill and Lanes has partnered with Flipside Pinball, placing modern-day pinball machines to provide the perfect break in your day. Players can create an account to have their achievements recorded and work to earn a position on our leaderboard. The current lineup includes Mustang, Iron Maiden, Thunderball and Venom. We are offering FREE PLAY Tuesday, Jan. 20-24, so come and try them out. After that, the games operate on cash only, priced at $0.75 for one game or three games for $2.
