Join us for our Suspenders4Hope Substance Use and Wellness Training from 2 to 4 p.m. on March 4 in RSC 264. This training aims to help faculty and staff develop tools to reflect on how they engage with substances, stigma related to substance use disorder, and how to best support students and members of their community. The Beyond the Lab: Research and Reasoning series continues with "Evidence-Based Practice Tools", Wednesday, March 4, 3:30pm in 201 Ahlberg Hall. Presented by University Libraries. Join WSU's health sciences librarian, Aaron Bowen, to discover the difference between traditional research and evidence-based practice. Students will explore tools designed to support evidence-informed decisions in healthcare, including the library’s newly updated Evidence-Based Practice Portal and the UpToDate database.

Welcomefest takes place during the first four weeks of the fall and spring semesters and features dozens of activities. Popular programs awaiting new and returning Shockers include Winter Welcome, the Involvement Fair and much more. Hosted by various student groups and campus departments, most events are free and give all students a chance to get acquainted with each other, learn their way around campus and find ways to connect with the community. The award recognizes student organizations, student leaders, faculty and staff for their contributions to student engagement and belonging on campus. The Student Government Association, in collaboration with the Graduate School and the International Student Union, is hosting a Tax Filing Workshop to help WSU students better understand the U.S. tax filing process. This workshop is open to all students and is especially helpful for international students and graduate students who may have additional tax considerations. The session will be led by Dr. Sina Rahimi (Barton School of Business, School of Accountancy), who has extensive experience guiding students through U.S. tax requirements. Led by the community-based recovery organization, The Phoenix-Wichita, these meetings will provide a space for grounding meditation and connection with other students in recovery. The first meeting for Spring 2026 will be Tuesday, Feb. 17. No sign-up is required and anyone seeking a recovery space is welcome to join as needed. Meetings are every Tuesday at 1 to 2 p.m. in RSC 319.
Join the rowing team at a morning practice in the upstairs of the Heskett Center. They meet for practice Tuesday through Friday, starting at 5:45 a.m. and continuing until 8 a.m. They welcome any student, men and women, NO experience is needed. Participate in a 2 week trial to see if rowing is for you.
The Kiah Duggins Shocker Support Locker is now open with new hours. The locker is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It provides support resources for students, and the sign shows that it is officially open with updated operating times.
From Monday, March 2 through Friday, March 6, Wichita State University is hosting Food for Fines, a program that allows students to have parking or traffic citations forgiven by donating items to support the Kiah Duggins Shocker Support Locker. If you have a citation, you can participate by donating nonperishable food or hygiene items instead of paying your fine. Citation forgiveness is based on donation level: for citations between $0 and $50, donate 10 to 15 nonperishable food or hygiene items. For $45 tickets, donate two household or hygiene items. For $75 tickets, donate one baby item.
