What is a Safety Timer in the Rave Guardian App?

The RAVE app offers the opportunity to always have someone to walk with, virtually day or night with the Safety Timer. You add WSU police, friends or family as your guardians. Set the timer when you are going from one place to another. When you get there you turn it off. If you don't the app sends a notification to those you selected and they know to check on you. When would you use this? Walking to your car at night, meeting someone new from social media, going somewhere unfamiliar, walking back to the dorm after a late class or event? It does not track you 24/7. Location is only one when you choose. Turn on location services for the most accurate help if you do happen to need it. Add University Police as a guardian for an extra layer of security on campus. Questions? Call 316-978-3450.

Submit your events for Welcomefest 2026

Welcomefest takes place during the first four weeks of the fall and spring semesters and features dozens of activities. Popular programs awaiting new and returning Shockers include Winter Welcome, the Involvement Fair and much more. Hosted by various student groups and campus departments, most events are free and give all students a chance to get acquainted with each other, learn their way around campus and find ways to connect with the community. Submit your events to be featured as part of the Welcomefest schedule. The deadline to register your event is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3. Visit wichita.edu/Welcomefest for more information.

Lost Something? Found Something?

The WSU Police Department is the Campus Lost and Found. They take reports of missing items and keep found items for 30 days. If you have lost something call 316-978-3450 they may have already found it. Tag it Don't Lose It. Be sure to label your supplies-notebooks, binders, calculators with at minimum your WSU ID, your name and phone number would be better. They also suggest setting your lost screen message on computers, tablets or phones to your contact information or to someone who they can get ahold of to get your items back to you. The sooner you report the better chance you have getting your item back-they only keep found items for 30 days. Any questions. Call WSU Police at 316-978-3450.
